Nikola Jokic has won his last five games against Stephen Curry and his last six games against LeBron James, giving him an active 11-0 record over the two icons.
Nikola Jokic is making the conversation of the best player in the NBA a moot point, as everyone can see that Jokic is currently in his own tier as the best player in the league. This is also exemplified by his record against two of the NBA’s active greats, LeBron James and Stephen Curry. The reigning Finals MVP hasn’t lost to either James or Curry in his last 11 contests.
Jokic has won his last six games against LeBron James, including the four-game sweep in the 2023 Western Conference Finals and their two regular-season victories over the Lakers this season. Jokic fares just as well against Stephen Curry, currently on a 5-0 run against the greatest shooter of all time. Combining his records, he’s yet to taste defeat in the last 11 games against either man.
He’s been extremely dominant in this run as well. Jokic is averaging a triple-double in games against LeBron and the Lakers, averaging 27.3 points, 14.0 rebounds, and 11.2 assists in their last six contests. Steph and the Warriors don’t fare much better, with Jokic still averaging a triple-double with 29.8 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 11.0 assists in the last five games.
This proves wholeheartedly we’re in a new era of basketball. with LeBron’s Lakers and Steph’s Warriors both fighting for the ninth and tenth seed at the moment, it’s clear that their years of unparalleled dominance and four consecutive NBA Finals matchups are long over.
Draymond Green Was Left Marvelling At Nikola Jokic’s Performance
The Nuggets are fresh off a 119-103 win over the Warriors, so Jokic had to face Draymond Green in their last matchup. In what ended up being a historic performance by Jokic, Draymond could do nothing but go on his podcast and praise Jokic’s game.
“I have had my fair share of good matchups against the Joker. I have given him a little bit of hell on some nights but he gave me total and complete hell tonight. I had absolutely no answers. I’m just gonna laugh about it because you either laugh or you cry. I had absolutely no answers tonight. He was brilliant.”
Green went on to talk about their matchup on the night, heavily complimenting Jokic’s shape and conditioning right now. He also discussed an exchange between the pair on the court when Green wrapped Jokic up on a play. Both players squashed any disagreement almost instantly and went on with the game.
The Nuggets walked out of the Chase Center with a 119-103 win over the Warriors, with Jokic putting up a monster statline of 32 points, 16 rebounds, 16 assists, and four steals. There is no comparison for Jokic in the modern NBA, and it’s becoming scarily clear that most teams simply can’t compete with him or the Nuggets.
Jokic is averaging 26.1 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 9.3 assists this season, currently viewed as the MVP favorite.
