Mavericks forward pulled off epic troll job against Clippers amid heated series

The Dallas Mavericks knocked off the LA Clippers in six games in the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs to advance to the second round to play the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Dallas’ first-round series was filled with drama.

Dallas Mavericks' P.J. Washington Goes Viral for Pose After Scuffle vs. Clippers

There were multiple scuffles in Dallas’ Game 3 victory over the Clippers, and Russell Westbrook became the villain of the series when he shoved Luka Doncic. The first to Doncic’s defense was P.J. Washington, and Washington became a fan favorite for the Mavs during this series as he stared down the Clippers bench earlier in that game.

P.J. Washington pulled off epic troll job against Clippers

Washington’s stare-down at the Clippers bench went viral, and he has been someone who has stood up for his teammates all season long. He got into a scuffle with Jalen Duren in a game against the Detroit Pistons earlier in the year while standing up for Daniel Gafford, and his tough-nosed defense and fierce attitude have made him an elite role player for the Mavs over the last few months.

Washington averaged 10.8 points per game in the Mavericks’ series against the Clippers, and the most memorable part of his series was definitely his stare-down. Mavericks fans printed shirts of this stare-down, the Mavs did a “copycat cam” on the jumbotron at the American Airlines Center with the stare-down, and they even printed a fan clapper that was placed on every seat with Washington’s stare-down on it that read “standing on business” for Game 6.

Washington even changed his Instagram profile photo into a cartoon image of him doing the stare-down at the Clippers bench. He is fully embracing this role and demeanor, and Mavericks fans are loving it.

Dallas definitely stood on business in Game 6 as they took down the Clippers by a score of 114-101, and Washington also stood on business in a way that no one really knew about until now in this series.

After the Mavericks obliterated the Clippers by a score of 123-93 in LA for Game 5, Washington took his trolling to the next level. The Mavs had a temporary weight room set up at Crypto.com Arena that was near the Clippers locker room, and Washington decided to blare loud rap music out of the weight room and down the hallway to the LA locker room.

According to a report from Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN, Clippers security closed the door to the Mavs’ makeshift weight room at least four times, but Washington continuously opened the door to let the music rock the hallway towards the Clippers locker room after they just got destroyed on their home floor.

Washington finally stopped reopening the door after 10 minutes when James Harden’s security guard stood in front of the door. The Clippers later found out where the music was coming from, and one unnamed player said that the music was “loud as (expletive).”

Washington trolling the Clippers after Game 5 was definitely a savage move, and he backed this up by scoring 14 points in Game 6 while shooting 4-8 from downtown. He has embraced the role of being an enforcer and protecting his teammates at all costs, and he is the type of player that every team needs.

Washington and the Mavs’ next test begins tonight against the Thunder on the road, and only time will tell if they can carry the momentum over from their first-round win into the second round and take down the No. 1 seed.

For all the latest on P.J. Washington and the Dallas Mavericks throughout the 2024 NBA Playoffs, stay tuned.
