Cam Newton is asking CeeDee Lamb’s mother to butt out of the Dallas Cowboys’ affairs.
Lamb’s mother Leta Ramirez allegedly joined the anti-Dak Prescott network following the Cowboys’ latest postseason disappointment , as a Facebook account bearing her name called for the Pokes to “get rid of (Prescott’s) a**” in the wake of a 48-32 defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card game. It got to the point where Ramirez advocated for Lamb to move on from the metroplex and join the developing playoff project in Houston led by CJ Stroud.
The Dallas drama was one of several topics Newton touched upon in the latest episode of his podcast “4th & 1,” telling Ramirez … if it was indeed she who advocated for either Lamb or Prescott’s removal … to stick to anything but sports.
“I say this respectfully. Just shut up. Just shut up,” Newton said. “Because it’s not going to do any good. … you’re going to bring more trouble.”
Lamb and Prescott’s relationship … or lack thereof? … served as one of many disastrous subplots of the Cowboys’ latest playoff disaster, with Fox Sports broadcasters Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen bringing attention to their apparent disconnection as the Dallas deficit worsened. CowboysSI.com has no indication that there is actually a problem here; Dak and Lamb are friends. But Newton believes whatever issues exist will only get worse if families get involved.
“This is real spill for anybody in the NFL, college sports, it (doesn’t) matter as a whole. Supporting cast don’t make it any better by voicing their honest opinion,” Newton declared. “Listen here, mama, baby, I know everything that we think, we don’t need to say. Everything we need to say don’t need to be posted.”
Of course, as Cam may not know, CeeDee’s mom was not alone in this weird weekend episode of “Family Shatters.” The brothers of Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons also popped off in ways that do the Cowboys no good. (See below.)
It’s perhaps surprising to see Newton provide any sort of backup support for Prescott, who labeled Prescott and several contemporaries “game managers” in a mid-December rant, one that proved all too prophetic upon Prescott’s problems against the Packers. Familial drama certainly won’t help the Cowboys as they seek to regain their relative sanity after one of their most embarrassing playoff cameos yet.
Dallas is perhaps used to letting Newton’s polarizing advice flow in one ear and out the other. On this one, however, the 2015 MVP may be right on the money.
