Pittsburgh Steelers DT Cam Heyward is going to go down as one of the best to ever dawn the black and gold.
A Pro Bowler, All-Pro, and now Walter Payton Man of the Year, Heyward has done it all in his career.
But as he looks to capture the ever-elusive Super Bowl ring, Heyward sent a clear message to those doubting his ability at this point of his career:
Heyward Out to Prove Something
Funny how you get hurt and kill yourself just to get back to play and not be 100 percent. Now they want you to retire cuz I was hurt all year🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️ Atleast I know where y’all stand. Yall quick to forget when I am healthy…. But I look forward to reminding yall

“The couch GM’s are out!!! If they have it their way our retire and we will have 15 different QBs. Man you gotta love Steeler fans for the passion,” Heyward tweeted in a series of posts over the weekend. “Funny how you get hurt and kill yourself just to get back to play and not be 100 percent. Now they want you to retire cuz I was hurt all year. At least I know where y’all stand. Yall quick to forget when I am healthy…. But I look forward to reminding yall…
“…Use it all for fuel man. I honestly love it! I let my mind find the dumbest things to just push me forward.
Now Heyward framed this as a message to Steelers fans, and it likely is, but don’t think this wasn’t a subtle reminder to the Steelers organization that he is coming back and plans to be at full boar.
Why would Heyward do that? Maybe because he holds a cap hit that amounts to over $22 million and takes up nearly 10% of the team’s cap in 2024.
So will Pittsburgh release Cam? No shot. But will they likely approach him in terms of a restructuring to lower that cap hit? Very likely.
And maybe Cam just wanted to get ahead of things as we approach business decision season.
