The 49ers may not have had a game this past week, but they certainly took a win during it.
That win came in the form of pass rusher Chase Young who the 49ers acquired from the Commanders for a third-round pick. Young spoke to the media Monday for the first time where he gave his thoughts on being traded to the 49ers.
“I wasn’t mad,” said Young who laughed after. “Nick (Bosa) is here who has always been a big brother to me even at Ohio State. I got in here last week, so just the culture, the vibe, it’s a lot different. I definitely know that I’m in a building with winners.”
Young is another prominent player from the Commanders that the 49ers have acquired. Before him it was left tackle Trent Williams, which is revealing to hear how elated both players were to be traded to the 49ers. One of the reasons Young loves it, aside from being reunited with Bosa, is he is finally on a team that can provide him with playoff contention and Super Bowl aspirations.
“It’s definitely exciting,” said Young. “It gives me another amount of motivation to go out and do my best and to play every play like it’s my last.
There is something to be said about a change of scenery, especially when the new scenery gives an uplifting ceiling. The Commanders were a very average team with no hope for real success in their future. The 49ers, however, give him that new hope that he never experienced with the Commanders. And even though the 49ers are on a three game skid, it is still a breath of fresh air for Young.
His impact should be immediately felt in the 49ers upcoming game with the Jaguars.
